एकदा माधवे मासि
गजेन्द्रो गिरि-गह्वरात्
स्नातुं तं गोमतीं गण्गां
आययौ स-गणो नदन्
ekadā mādhave māsi
gajendro giri-gahvarāt
snātuṃ taṃ gomatīṃ gaṇgāṃ
āyayau sa-gaṇo nadan
ekadā—one day; mādhave—of Madhava; māsi—in the month; gajendraḥ—that regal elephant; giri-gahvarāt—from the mountain; snātum—to bathe; tam—that; gomatīṃ gaṇgām—Gomatī river; āyayau—went; sa-gaṇaḥ—with its followers; nadan—trumpeting.
English translation of verse 6.10.10:
One day in the month of Mādhava (April-May), that regal elephant left Mount Raivata and went, trumpeting and followed by its associates, to the Gomatī river to bathe.
