The Garga-samhita Verse 6.10.5, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 6 of Chapter 10 (In the Description of the Gomati River, the Glories of Cakra-tirtha) of Canto 6 (dvaraka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

घण्टानादो ऽभवद् ग्राहो
गोमत्यां च शतं समाः
विकरालो महा-भीमः
शश्वद्-रौद्र-वपुर्-धरः

ghaṇṭānādo 'bhavad grāho
gomatyāṃ ca śataṃ samāḥ
vikarālo mahā-bhīmaḥ
śaśvad-raudra-vapur-dharaḥ

ghaṇṭānādaḥ—Ghantanada; abhavat—became; grāhaḥa crocodile; gomatyām—in the Gomatī; ca—and; śatam—for a hundred; samāḥ—years; vikarālaḥ—fearsome; mahā-bhīmaḥferocious; śaśvad-raudraalways angry; vapuḥ—form; dharaḥ—manifesting.

English translation of verse 6.10.5:

For one hundred years Ghaṇṭānāda was a fearsome, feroicous, always angry crocodile in the Gomatī river.
