पितुर् वचः समाकर्ण्य
आनर्तो मध्यमः सुतः
ज्ञानी ज्ञानमयं वाक्यं
उवाच प्रहसन्न् इव
pitur vacaḥ samākarṇya
ānarto madhyamaḥ sutaḥ
jñānī jñānamayaṃ vākyaṃ
uvāca prahasann iva
pituḥ—of the father; vacaḥ—the words; samākarṇya—hearing; ānartaḥ—Anarta; madhyamaḥ—the middle; sutaḥ—son; jñānī—wise; jñānamayam—wise; vākyam— words; uvāca—spoke; prahasann—laughing; iva—as if.
English translation of verse 6.9.8:
Hearing his father's words, the middle son, Anarta, who was very wise, laughed and spoke words of great wisdom.
