रुक्मिण्यां भीष्म-कन्यायां
प्रद्युम्नः प्रथमो ऽभवत्
कामदेवावतारो ऽयं
पितृवत्-सर्व-लक्षणः
rukmiṇyāṃ bhīṣma-kanyāyāṃ
pradyumnaḥ prathamo 'bhavat
kāmadevāvatāro 'yaṃ
pitṛvat-sarva-lakṣaṇaḥ
rukmiṇyām—in Rukmiṇī; bhīṣma-kanyāyām—the daughter of Bhjismaka; pradyumnaḥ—Pradyumna; prathamaḥ—the first; abhavat—was; kāmadeva-avatāraḥ—an incarnation of Kāmadeva; ayam—who; pitṛ—his father; vat—like; sarva—all; lakṣaṇaḥ—the qualities.
English translation of verse 6.8.23:
From Rukmiṇī was born the first son, Pradyumna, who had all the transcendental qualities of His father, and who was an incarnation of Kāmadeva.
