The Garga-samhita Verse 6.8.5, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 6 of Chapter 8 (The Marriages of All the Queens) of Canto 6 (dvaraka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

सिंहेन मारितः सो ऽपि
सिंहो जाम्बवता हतः
गृहीत्वा तं मणिं सद्यो
जाम्बवान् स्व-गुहां गतः

siṃhena māritaḥ so 'pi
siṃho jāmbavatā hataḥ
gṛhītvā taṃ maṇiṃ sadyo
jāmbavān sva-guhāṃ gataḥ

siṃhena—by a lion; māritaḥ—killed; saḥ—he; api—also; siṃhaḥthe lion; jāmbavatā—by Jāmbavān; hataḥ—killed; gṛhītvātaking; tam—it; maṇim—the jewel; sadyaḥ—at once; jāmbavān—Jāmbavān; sva-guhām—to his cave; gataḥ—went.

English translation of verse 6.8.5:

A lion killed Prasena. Then Jāmbavān killed the lion and took the jewel to his cave.
