The Garga-samhita Verse 6.6.31, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 6 of Chapter 6 (The Yadavas’ Victory When Shri Rukmini is Kidnapped) of Canto 6 (dvaraka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

गदा-विद्धो गतो धन्वी
गदा-युद्ध-प्रभाव-वित्
धनुर्-युद्धं तु सन्त्यज्य
तत्-कालान् मनसा त्वरम्

gadā-viddho gato dhanvī
gadā-yuddha-prabhāva-vit
dhanur-yuddhaṃ tu santyajya
tat-kālān manasā tvaram

gadāby the club; viddhaḥstruck; gataḥgone; dhanvībowman; gadā—of club; yuddhafighting; prabhāvapower; vit——knowing; dhanuḥwith bow; yuddham—fighting; tu—indeed; santyajya—abandoning; tat-kālāt—from that time; manasāwith thinking; tvaram—at once.

English translation of verse 6.6.31:

Struck by the club, and aware of Śālva skill in club-fighting, Gada quickly put down His bow.
