The Garga-samhita Verse 6.6.30, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 6 of Chapter 6 (The Yadavas’ Victory When Shri Rukmini is Kidnapped) of Canto 6 (dvaraka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

ततः पलायितं सैन्यं
दृष्ट्वा शाल्वो महा-बलः
गदं तताड गदया
गदा-युद्ध-विशारदः

tataḥ palāyitaṃ sainyaṃ
dṛṣṭvā śālvo mahā-balaḥ
gadaṃ tatāḍa gadayā
gadā-yuddha-viśāradaḥ

tataḥ-then; palāyitam—fleeing; sainyam—the army; dṛṣṭvāseeing; śālvaḥSalva; mahā-balaḥpowerful; gadamGada; tatāḍa—hit; gadayā—with a club; gadā-yuddha-viśāradaḥ—expert at club fighting.

English translation of verse 6.6.30:

Noticing that his army had fled, powerful Śālva, who was expert at fighting with clubs, with a club attacked Gada.
