कोटि-चन्द्र-प्रतीकाशां
भैष्मीं कमल-लोचनाम्
अकस्माद् ददृशुर् वीराः
सु-निधिं निर्धना यथा
koṭi-candra-pratīkāśāṃ
bhaiṣmīṃ kamala-locanām
akasmād dadṛśur vīrāḥ
su-nidhiṃ nirdhanā yathā
koṭi—millions; candra—of moons; pratīkāśām—splendor; bhaiṣmīm—Rukmiṇī; kamala-locanām—lotus-eyed; akasmāt—suddenly; dadṛśuḥ—saw; vīrāḥ—soldiers; su-nidhim—a great treasure; nirdhanā—overty-stricken beggars; yathā—as.
English translation of verse 6.6.3:
As poverty-stricken beggars stare at a priceless treasure, so the host of soldiers stared at lotus-eyed Rukmiṇī, who was glorious as millions of moons.
