भेरी-मृदङ्गैर् बहु-दुन्दुभि-स्वनैः
सु-गायकैर् वन्दि-जनैश् च मागधैः
वाराङ्गना-नृत्य-मनोज्ञ-भावैर्
जयेत्य् अभून् मङ्गल-शब्द उच्चकैः
bherī-mṛdaṅgair bahu-dundubhi-svanaiḥ
su-gāyakair vandi-janaiś ca māgadhaiḥ
vārāṅganā-nṛtya-manojña-bhāvair
jayety abhūn maṅgala-śabda uccakaiḥ
bherī-mṛdaṅgaiḥ—with bheris and mrdangas; bahu-dundubhi-svanaiḥ—with the sounds of many dundubhis; su-gāyakaiḥ—with expert singers; vandi-janaiḥ—with rciting poets; ca—and; māgadhaiḥ—with magadhas; vārāṅganā—of dancing girls; nṛtya—dancing; manojña-bhāvairwith beauty; jaya—Victory!; iti—thus; abhūtwas; maṅgala-śabda—auspicious sounds; uccakaiḥ—loud.
English translation of verse 6.5.17:
As the bherī, mṛdaṅga, and dundubhi drums sounded, the singers sang, the vandīs and māgadhas recited poetry, and the dancing girls gracefully danced, there were auspicious loud calls of "Victory!"
