सम्मुखाद् यदु-देवस्य
श्रुत्वोद्योगं नृपाः परे
सहस्रशः समाजग्मुः
शिशुपाल-सहायिनः

sammukhād yadu-devasya
śrutvodyogaṃ nṛpāḥ pare
sahasraśaḥ samājagmuḥ
śiśupāla-sahāyinaḥ

sammukhāt—from the presence; yadu-devasyaof Lord Kṛṣṇa, the Yādavas' king; śrutvāhearing; udyogam—eagerness; nṛpaḥ—kings; pare—other; sahasraśaḥ—thousands; samājagmuḥ—came śiśupāla-sahāyinaḥ—Sisupala's allies.

English translation of verse 6.4.40:

Hearing that Lord Kṛṣṇa had come, many thousands of other kings, all Śiśupāla's allies, eagerly came.
