पश्यतां दिवि देवानां
नराणां भुवि मैथिल
उरसा शिरसा चैव
बाहूभ्यां पादयोः पृथक्
युयुधाते मल्ल-युद्धे
सिंहाव् इव महा-बले
तयोश् च युद्ध्यतोः सर्वं
क्षुण्णं भू-खण्ड-मण्डलम्
paśyatāṃ divi devānāṃ
narāṇāṃ bhuvi maithila
urasā śirasā caiva
bāhūbhyāṃ pādayoḥ pṛthak
yuyudhāte malla-yuddhe
siṃhāv iva mahā-bale
tayoś ca yuddhyatoḥ sarvaṃ
kṣuṇṇaṃ bhū-khaṇḍa-maṇḍalam
paśyatām—looking; divi—in heaven; devānām—of the demigods; narāṇām—of the humans; bhuvi—on the earth; maithila—O king of Mithila; urasā—with the chest; śirasā—with the head; ca—and; eva—indeed; bāhūbhyām—with arms; pādayoḥ—with feet; pṛthak—specific; yuyudhāte—fought; malla-yuddhe—in wrestling; siṃhāv—two lions; iva—like; mahā-bale—in great strength; tayoś—of them; ca—and; yuddhyatoḥ—fighting; sarvam—all; kṣuṇṇam—pounded; bhū-khaṇḍa-maṇḍalam—the circle of the earth.
English translation of verses 6.1.42-43:
O king of Mithilā, as the demigods in heaven and the humans on earth watched, Lord Balarāma and Jarāsandha wrestled arm-to-arm, foot-to-foot, chest-to-chest, and head-to-head, like two very powerful lions. As they fought the circle of the earth became crushed and broken.
