Verse 5.24.12

कोले जीवति देवेन्द्र
कंसो ऽपि न मृतः स्मृतः
रक्षार्थं स-गुणो ऽसि त्वं
भक्तानां प्रकृतेः परः

kole jīvati devendra
kaṃso 'pi na mṛtaḥ smṛtaḥ
rakṣārthaṃ sa-guṇo 'si tvaṃ
bhaktānāṃ prakṛteḥ paraḥ

kole—as Kola; jīvati—lives; devendra—O master of the demigods; kaṃsaḥ—Kaṃsa; api—also; na—not; mṛtaḥ—dead; smṛtaḥ—considered; rakṣārtham—for protection; sa-guṇaḥ—appearing as an ordinary person subject to the modes of nature; asi—are; tvam—You; bhaktānām—of the devotees; prakṛteḥ—matter; paraḥ—beyond.

English translation of verse 5.24.12:

O master of the demigods, we think that Kaṃsa is not dead as long as Kola remains alive. O master of the demigods, although You are transcendental, beyond the world of matter, in order to protect Your devotees You have come here, pretending to be a conditioned soul bound by the modes of nature.
