The Garga-samhita Verse 5.21.44, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. तरङ्गित-क्षौम-सिताम्बरे परे
देहि स्वर-ज्ञानम् अतीव मङ्गले
येनाद्वितीयो हि भवेयम् अक्षरे
सर्वोपरि स्यां पर-राग-मण्डले

taraṅgita-kṣauma-sitāmbare pare
dehi svara-jñānam atīva maṅgale
yenādvitīyo hi bhaveyam akṣare
sarvopari syāṃ para-rāga-maṇḍale

taraṅgita—tossed by waves; kṣaumasilk; sitawhite; ambare—garments; pare——great; dehiplease give; svaraof music; jñānam—knowledge; atīvagreat; maṅgale—auspicious; yena—by which; advitīyaḥ—without a second; hi—indeed; bhaveyam—I may be; akṣare—in words; sarvopari—above all; syām—I may be; para-rāga-maṇḍale—in the circle of melodies.

English translation of verse 5.21.44:

O goddess dressed in white silk tossed by graceful waves as you walk, O auspicious one, please give me knowledge of music. Make me the best of musicians. Make me unrivaled among musicians.
