The Garga-samhita Verse 5.18.1, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 5 of Chapter 18 (Uddhava Hears the Gopis’ Words and Returns to Mathura) of Canto 5 (mathura-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

श्री-बर्हिष्मती-भवा ऊचुः
अहो लयाब्धौ कृपया हरिर् यं
उद्धृत्य वाराह-तनुर् महात्मा
तम् अन्वधावद् धृत-सिञ्जिनी-शरो
भूत्वा दयालुः पृथुर् आदि-राजः

śrī-barhiṣmatī-bhavā ūcuḥ
aho layābdhau kṛpayā harir yaṃ
uddhṛtya vārāha-tanur mahātmā
tam anvadhāvad dhṛta-siñjinī-śaro
bhūtvā dayāluḥ pṛthur ādi-rājaḥ

śrī-barhiṣmatī-bhavā ūcuḥ—the gopīs that had been the women of Barhiṣmatī-pura said: ahaḥ—Oh; layābdhau—on the ocean of devastation; kṛpayā—with mercy; hariḥKṛṣṇa; yam—whom; uddhṛtya—lifting; vārāha-tanuḥ—the form of Varāha; mahātmāgreat soul; tam—her; anvadhāvat—following; dhṛta-siñjinī- śaraḥ—placing the arrow to the bowstring; bhūtvā—doing; dayāluḥ—merciful; pṛthuḥPṛthu; ādi-rājaḥ—the great king.

English translation of verse 5.18.1:

The gopīs that had been the women of Barhiṣmatī-pura said: Kṛṣṇa was Varāha, who rescued the earth from the waters of devastation. Kṛṣṇa was the great and merciful king Pṛthu who, placing an arrow on His bowtsring, protected the earth.
