The Garga-samhita Verse 5.17.34, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 5 of Chapter 17 (The Gopis Describe Their Remembrance of Sri Krsna) of Canto 5 (mathura-khanda).

स्रि-पुलिन्दिक उचुह् एनम् वरम् कर्तुम् अतिव विह्वलम् समगतम् चुर्पनखम् पुर वने यह् करयम् अस विरुपिनिम् बलत् सौमित्रिन तेन तु वह् क्र्प कथम् स्रि-पुलिन्दिक

sri-pulindika ucuh enam varam kartum ativa vihvalam samagatam curpanakham pura vane yah karayam asa virupinim balat saumitrina tena tu vah krpa katham sri-pulindika

ucuh—the gopis that had been Pulindas said; enam—Him; varambeloved; kartum—to make; ativavery; vihvalam—agitated; samagatam—attained; curpanakham—Surpanakha; purabefore; vane—in the forest; yah—who; karayam asa—made; virupinim—disfigured; balat—forcibly; saumitrina—by Laksmana; tena—by Him; tu—indeed; vah—of you; krpathe mercy; katham -how?

English translation of verse 5.17.34:

The gopis that had been Pulindas said: When Surpanakha fell in love with Him and yearned to marry Him, He made Laksmana disfigure her. He was not kind then. Why should He be kind now?
