चौर्यम् तेजो ध्र्तिर् दक्स्यम् युद्धे चप्य् अपलयनम् दनम् इच्वर-भवच् च क्सत्रम् कर्म स्व-भव-जम्

cauryam tejo dhrtir daksyam yuddhe capy apalayanam danam icvara-bhavac ca ksatram karma sva-bhava-jam

cauryam—heroisom; tejahpower; dhrtih—determination; daksyam—resourcefulness; yuddhe—in battle; ca—also; api—and; apalayanam—not fleeing; danamgenerosity; icvara—leadership; bhavah—nature; ca—and; ksatram—ksatriya; karmaduty; sva-bhava-jam—born of his own nature.

English translation of verse 5.12.6:

Heroism, power, determination, resourcefulness, courage in battle, generosity, and leadership are the qualities of work for the ksatriyas *.
