The Garga-samhita Verse 5.12.4, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 5 of Chapter 12 (Pancajana’s Previous Birth) of Canto 5 (mathura-khanda).

ब्रह्म-कर्म-परिभ्रस्तन् वेदध्ययन-वर्जितन् रुस प्रह स तन् मत्तन् उतथ्यो मुनि-सत्तमह् ब्रह्म-कर्म

brahma-karma-paribhrastan vedadhyayana-varjitan rusa praha sa tan mattan utathyo muni-sattamah brahma-karma

paribhrastan—abandoning their brahminical duties; vedadhyayana-varjitan—not studying the Vedas; rusaangrily; praha—said; sa—he; tan—to them; mattan—wild; utathyah—Utathya; muni-sattamahthe best of sages.

English translation of verse 5.12.4:

Utathya, the best of sages, angrily spoke to his sons, who had neglected their Vedic studies and brahminical duties.
