The Garga-samhita Verse 5.11.17, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 5 of Chapter 11 (The Stories of Kubja and Kuvalayapida) of Canto 5 (mathura-khanda).

एवं शप्तस् तदा दैत्यो
नाम्ना मन्दगतिर् बली
पतत् कञ्चुक-वद् देहो
भ्रष्ट-तेज बभूव ह

evaṃ śaptas tadā daityo
nāmnā mandagatir balī
patat kañcuka-vad deho
bhraṣṭa-teja babhūva ha

evam—thus; śaptaḥcursed; tadāthen; daityaḥthe Daitya; nāmnā—by name; mandagatiḥ—Mandagati; balīpowerful; patatfalling; kañcuka-vat—like a garment; dehaḥ—the body; bhraṣṭa-tejalost its splendor; babhūva—became; ha—indeed.

English translation of verse 5.11.17:

Cursed in this way, the powerful Daitya named Mandagati at once shed his body as one sheds a garment. Now his power and splendor were all gone.
