The Garga-samhita Verse 5.11.6, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. तपश् चक्रे शूर्पनखा
वर्षाणाम् अयुतं जले
ध्यायन्ती त्र्य्-अम्बकं देवं
श्री-रामं वरम् इच्छती

tapaś cakre śūrpanakhā
varṣāṇām ayutaṃ jale
dhyāyantī try-ambakaṃ devaṃ
śrī-rāmaṃ varam icchatī

tapaḥausterities; cakre—did; śūrpanakhāŚūrpanakhā; varṣāṇām—of years; ayutam—ten thousand; jale—in the water; dhyāyantī—meditating; try-ambakaṃ devam—on Lord Śiva; śrī-rāmam—Lord Rāma; varamhusband; icchatī—wishing.

English translation of verse 5.11.6:

Wishing to get Lord Rāma as her husband, for ten thousand years Śūrpanakhā stayed underwater and meditated on Lord Śiva.
