शौरिर् गर्गं समाहूय
श्री-कृष्ण-बलदेवयोः
यज्ञोपवीतं विधि-वत्
कारयाम् आस धर्म-वित्
śaurir gargaṃ samāhūya
śrī-kṛṣṇa-baladevayoḥ
yajñopavītaṃ vidhi-vat
kārayām āsa dharma-vit
śauriḥ—Vasudwva; gargam—Garga Muni; samāhūya—calling; śrī-kṛṣṇa-baladevayoḥ—of Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma; yajñopavītam—giving the sacred thread; vidhi-vat—according to the rules; kārayām āsa—did; dharma-vit—knowing the truth of religion.
English translation of verse 5.9.11:
Then pious Vasudeva called Garga Muni and had him perform the sacred-thread ceremony for Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma.
