श्री-नारद उवाच
अर्द्र-चित्तं नन्द-राजं
वनितानां मनोरथम्
स्मृत्वा शत्रून् हन्तु-कामस्
चक्रे युद्धं बलाद् धरिः
śrī-nārada uvāca
ardra-cittaṃ nanda-rājaṃ
vanitānāṃ manoratham
smṛtvā śatrūn hantu-kāmas
cakre yuddhaṃ balād dhariḥ
śrī-nārada uvāca—Śrī Nārada said; ardra-cittam—melting hearts; nanda-rājam—King Nanda; vanitānām—of the women; manoratham—the desire; smṛtvā—remembering; śatrūn—the enemies; hantu-kāmaḥ—wishing to kill; cakre—did; yuddham—the fight; balāt—powerfully; hariḥ—Lord Kṛṣṇa.
English translation of verse 5.8.1:
Śrī Nārada said: Thinking of how King Nanda's heart was melting and how the women were praying in this way, Lord Kṛṣṇa, yearning to kill them, ferociously attacked His opponents.
