कालिन्दीं रत्न-सोपानैश्
चलद्-ऊर्मि-कुतूहलैः
अलकाम् इव शोभाढ्यां
दिव्य-नारी-नरैर् युतम्

kālindīṃ ratna-sopānaiś
calad-ūrmi-kutūhalaiḥ
alakām iva śobhāḍhyāṃ
divya-nārī-narair yutam

kālindīm—the Yamunā; ratnawith jewel; sopānaiś—stairs; calad-ūrmi-kutūhalaiḥ—with turbulent waves; alakām—locks of hair; iva—like; śobhāḍhyām—beautiful; divya-nārī-naraiḥ—beauitful men and women; yutam—with.

English translation of verse 5.5.26:

. . . which was filled with handsome men and beautiful women, and decorated with jewel staircases leading down to the Yamunā's turbulent waves splendid as black locks of hair.
