कर्मेन्द्रियाणीह यथा रसादिंस्
तथा स-कामा मुनयः सुखं यत्
मनाङ् न जानन्ति हि नैरपेक्षं
गूढं परं निर्गुण-लक्षणं तत्
karmendriyāṇīha yathā rasādiṃs
tathā sa-kāmā munayaḥ sukhaṃ yat
manāṅ na jānanti hi nairapekṣaṃ
gūḍhaṃ paraṃ nirguṇa-lakṣaṇaṃ tat
karma—working; indriyāṇi—senses; iha—here; yathā—as; rasādiṃḥ—beginning with the tongue; tathā—so; sa-kāmā—with desire; munayaḥ—the sages; sukham—happiness; yat—which; manāk—slightly; na—not; jānanti—know; hi—indeed; nairapekṣam—aloofness; gūḍham—hidden; param—great; nirguṇa-lakṣaṇam—beyond the modes of nature; tat—that.

Philosophers that still desire the objects of the material senses cannot at all understand the great secret of renunciation, a secret untouched by the three modes of nature.
