The Garga-samhita Verse 4.12.15, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 4 of Chapter 12 (The Story of the Gopis That In the Holi Festival Displayed Three Transcendental Virtues) of Canto 4 (madhurya-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

रक्त-हस्ताः पीत-वस्त्राः
कूजन्-नूपुर-मेखलाः
गायन्त्यो होलिका-गीतिर्
गलीभिर् हास्य-सन्धिभिः

rakta-hastāḥ pīta-vastrāḥ
kūjan-nūpura-mekhalāḥ
gāyantyo holikā-gītir
galībhir hāsya-sandhibhiḥ

rakta-hastāḥred hands; pīta-vastrāḥyellow garmentś; kūjan-nūpura-mekhalāḥtinkling anklets and belts; gāyantyaḥ—singing; holikā-gītiḥ—with Holi songs; galībhiḥ—with arrogant words; hāsyawith laughter; sandhibhiḥ—mixed.

English translation of verse 4.12.15:

With red hands and yellow garments, and with rowdy songs and laughter, they sang about the glories of Holi.
