The Garga-samhita Verse 4.11.6, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 4 of Chapter 11 (The Story of the Gopis That were Residents of Rama-vaikuntha, Shvetadvipa, Urdhva-vaikuntha, Ajita-pada, and Shri Lokacala) of Canto 4 (madhurya-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

माघस्य शुक्ल-पञ्चम्यां
वसन्तादौ हरिः स्वयम्
तासां प्रेम-परीक्षार्थं
कृष्णो वै तद्-गृहान् गतः

māghasya śukla-pañcamyāṃ
vasantādau hariḥ svayam
tāsāṃ prema-parīkṣārthaṃ
kṛṣṇo vai tad-gṛhān gataḥ

māghasya—of the month of Magha; śukla-pañcamyām—on the fifth day of the bright fortnight; vasantādau—at the beginning of spring; hariḥ—Kṛṣṇa; svayam—personally; tāsām—of them; premathe love; parīkṣa-arthamto test; kṛṣṇaḥKṛṣṇa; vai—indeed; tad-gṛhān—to their homes; gataḥ—went.

English translation of verse 4.11.6:

On the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Māgha (January-

February), as springtime was about to begin, to test their love for Him, Lord Kṛṣṇa went to these gopīs' homes
