कथाः श्रुत्वा ब्राह्मणेभ्यो
दद्यात् सद्-दक्षिणां पुनः
रात्रौ जागरणं कुर्याद्
गायन् कृष्ण-पदानि च

kathāḥ śrutvā brāhmaṇebhyo
dadyāt sad-dakṣiṇāṃ punaḥ
rātrau jāgaraṇaṃ kuryād
gāyan kṛṣṇa-padāni ca

kathāḥstories; śrutvāhaering; brāhmaṇebhyaḥ—from the brāhmaṇa; dadyāt—should give; sad-dakṣiṇām—daksina; punaḥ—again; rātrau—at night; jāgaraṇam—staying awake; kuryāt—should do; gāyan—singing; kṛṣṇa-padāni—verses praising Lord Kṛṣṇa; ca—and.

English translation of verse 4.8.25:

From the brāhmaṇas one should hear the stories of Lord Kṛṣṇa. One should offer dakṣiṇā to them. One should keep a vigil, singing the glories of Lord Kṛṣṇa throughout the night.
