The Garga-samhita Verse 4.6.18, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 4 of Chapter 6 (The Story of the Ayodhya Women) of Canto 4 (madhurya-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

श्री-नारद उवाच
इति चिन्तयतस् तस्य
विस्मितस्य नृपश्य च
गजाह्वयात् सिन्धु-देशान्
जेतुं भीष्मः समागतः

śrī-nārada uvāca
iti cintayatas tasya
vismitasya nṛpaśya ca
gajāhvayāt sindhu-deśān
jetuṃ bhīṣmaḥ samāgataḥ

śrī-nārada uvāca—Srī Nārada said; iti—thus; cintayataḥ—thinking; tasya—of him; vismitasya—surprised; nṛpasya—of the king; ca—and; gajāhvayāt—from Hastinapura; sindhu-deśān—to Sindhu-desa; jetum—to conquer; bhīṣmaḥBhiṣma; samāgataḥ—arrived.

English translation of verse 4.6.18:

Srī Nārada said: As the king was thinking about what to do, Bhīṣma, on his way to conquer Sindhu-deśa, came from Hastināpura.
