The Garga-samhita Verse 4.3.16, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 4 of Chapter 3 (The Story of the Mithila Women) of Canto 4 (madhurya-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

श्री-भगवान् उवाच
भवतीभिर् मार्गशीर्षे
कृतं कात्यायनी-व्रतम्
मद्-अर्थं तच् च स-फलं
भविष्यति न संशयः

śrī-bhagavān uvāca
bhavatībhir mārgaśīrṣe
kṛtaṃ kātyāyanī-vratam
mad-arthaṃ tac ca sa-phalaṃ
bhaviṣyati na saṃśayaḥ

śrī-bhagavān uvāca—the Supreme Personality of Godhead said; bhavatībhiḥ—with you; mārgaśīrṣe—in the month of Mārgaśīrṣa; kṛtam—done; kātyāyanīto worship goddess Kātyāyanī; vratam—a vow; mat—of Me; arthamfor the sake; tat—that; ca—and; sa-phalam—fruitful; bhaviṣyati—will be; na—no; saṃśayaḥ—doubt.

English translation of verse 4.3.16:

The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: To attain Me, during the month of Mārgaśīrṣa you followed a vow to worship goddess Kātyāyanī. Your vow will bear its fruit. There is no doubt of that.
