धनं विना कथं चासां
विवाहो हा भविष्यति
भोजने यत्र सन्देहो
धनाशा तत्र कीदृशी

dhanaṃ vinā kathaṃ cāsāṃ
vivāho hā bhaviṣyati
bhojane yatra sandeho
dhanāśā tatra kīdṛśī

dhanam—welath; vināwithout; katham—how?; ca—and; āsām—of the girls; vivāhaḥwedding; hā—indeed; bhaviṣyati—will be; bhojane—in eatiung; yatrawhere; sandehaḥ—doubt; dhanaof wealth; āśā—hope; tatra—there; kīdṛśī—like what?

English translation of verse 4.2.8:

How will my daughters marry if I have no wealth? If even the next meal is uncertain, where is the hope to gain wealth?
