न बुद्धि-भेदं जनयेद्
अज्ञानां कर्म-सङ्गिनाम्
जोषयेत् सर्व-कर्माणि
विद्वान् युक्तः समाचरन्

na buddhi-bhedaṃ janayed
ajñānāṃ karma-saṅginām
joṣayet sarva-karmāṇi
vidvān yuktaḥ samācaran

na—do not; buddhi-bhedam—disrupt the intelligence; janayet—do; ajñānām—of the foolish; karma-saṅginām—attached to fruitive work; joṣayet—dovetailed; sarvaall; karmāṇi—work; vidvānlearned; yuktaḥ—all engaged; samācaran—practicing.

English translation of verse 4.1.47:

Let not the wise disrupt the minds of the ignorant who are attached to fruitive action. They should not be encouraged to refrain from work, but to engage in work in the spirit of devotion *.
