श्री-गोप्य ऊचुः
कथं न चागतः शीघ्रं
नो गृहान् वृजिनार्दन
उत्कण्ठितानां गोपीनां
त्वयि चन्द्रे चकोर-वत्
śrī-gopya ūcuḥ
kathaṃ na cāgataḥ śīghraṃ
no gṛhān vṛjinārdana
utkaṇṭhitānāṃ gopīnāṃ
tvayi candre cakora-vat
śrī-gopya ūcuḥ—the gopīs said; katham—why?; na—not; ca—and; āgataḥ—come; śīghram—long; naḥ—our; gṛhān—homes; vṛjinārdana—O savior from distress; utkaṇṭhitānām—anxious; gopīnām—gopīs; tvayi—to You; candre—to the moon; cakora-vat—like a cakora bird.
English translation of verse 4.1.10:
The gopīs said: O savior from troubles, why did You not come sooner? As cakora birds yearn to see the moon, we gopīs always yearn to see You.
