तदा उत्कण्ठिता गोप्यः
कृत्वा तत्-पूजनं परम्
पप्रच्छुः परया भक्त्या
गिरा मधुरया प्रभुम्

tadā utkaṇṭhitā gopyaḥ
kṛtvā tat-pūjanaṃ param
papracchuḥ parayā bhaktyā
girā madhurayā prabhum

tadāthen; utkaṇṭhitā—aqnxious; gopyaḥthe gopīs; kṛtvā—making; tat-pūjanam—His worship; param—great; papracchuḥ—asked; parayā—with great; bhaktyā—devotion; girāwith words; madhurayā—sweet; prabhum—the Lord.

English translation of verse 4.1.9:

The anxious gopīs worshiped Him and with sweet words asked a question.
