विजयो ब्राह्मणः कश्चिद्
गोतमी-तीर-वास-कृत्
आययौ स्वम् ऋणं नेतुं
मथुरां पाप-नाशिनीम्

vijayo brāhmaṇaḥ kaścid
gotamī-tīra-vāsa-kṛt
āyayau svam ṛṇaṃ netuṃ
mathurāṃ pāpa-nāśinīm

vijayaḥVijaya; brāhmaṇaḥbrāhmaṇa; kaścit—a certain; gotamī-tīra-vāsa-kṛt—residing on the bank of the Gotamī river; āyayau—went; svam—own; ṛṇam—debt; netum—to repay; mathurām—to Mathurā; pāpa-nāśinīm—destroyer of sins.

English translation of verse 3.10.2:

One day, in order to repay the debt he owed the sages and ancestors, a certain brāhmaṇa named Vijaya went to Mathurā, the holy place that removes all sins.
