The Garga-samhita Verse 3.9.43, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 3 of Chapter 9 (The Birth of Shri Giriraja) of Canto 3 (giriraja-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

सो ऽयं गिरि-वरः साक्षाच्
छ्री-कृष्णेन प्रणोदितः
सर्व-तीर्थ-मयः श्यामो
घन-श्यामः सुर-प्रियः

so 'yaṃ giri-varaḥ sākṣāc
chrī-kṛṣṇena praṇoditaḥ
sarva-tīrtha-mayaḥ śyāmo
ghana-śyāmaḥ sura-priyaḥ

saḥ—this; ayamthis; giri-varaḥthe best of mountains; sākṣāc—directly; śrī-kṛṣṇena—by Kṛṣṇa; praṇoditaḥ—sent; sarva-tīrtha-mayaḥ—consisting of all holy places; śyāmaḥ—dark; ghana-śyāmaḥ—dark as a cloud; sura-priyaḥ—dear to the Lord.

English translation of verse 3.9.43:

In this way Govardhana Hill, which is the best of mountains, which is dear to the Lord, which is dark as a monsoon cloud, and which contains within itself all holy places, was manifested by Lord Kṛṣṇa.
