The Garga-samhita Verses 3.5.14-15, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 3 of Chapter 5 (The Dispute Among the Gopas) of Canto 3 (giriraja-khanda).

तस्मात् कृष्ण इति ख्यातो
नाम्नायं नन्द-नन्दनः
वसवश् चेन्द्रियाणीति
तद् देवश् चित्त एव हि
तस्मिन् यश् चेष्टते सो ऽपि वासुदेव इति स्मृतः

tasmāt kṛṣṇa iti khyāto
nāmnāyaṃ nanda-nandanaḥ
vasavaś cendriyāṇīti
tad devaś citta eva hi
tasmin yaś ceṣṭate so 'pi vāsudeva iti smṛtaḥ

tasmāt—therefore; kṛṣṇaKṛṣṇa; iti—thus; khyātaḥnamed; nāmnā—by the name; ayamHe; nanda-nandanaḥthe son of Nanda; vasavaś—the Vasus; ca—and; indriyāṇithe senses; iti—thus; tat—that; devaś—Lord; cittain the heart; eva—indeed; hi—indeed; tasmin—in that; yaś—who; ceṣṭate—acts; saḥ—He; api—indeed; vāsudevavāsudeva; iti—thus; smṛtaḥ—remembered.

English translation of verses 3.5.14-15:

That is why Nanda's son has the name Kṛṣṇa. Because He is the Lord (deva)

that rules over the eight vasus (the heart, mind, intelligence, and the five senses), He is also called Vāsudeva.
