The Garga-samhita Verse 3.2.22, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 3 of Chapter 2 (The Great Festival of Shri Giriraja) of Canto 3 (giriraja-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

अधो ऽधस् तं गिरेः शेषः
कुण्डली-भूत आस्थितः
रुरोध तज्-जलं दीर्घं
यथा वेला महोदधिम्

adho 'dhas taṃ gireḥ śeṣaḥ
kuṇḍalī-bhūta āsthitaḥ
rurodha taj-jalaṃ dīrghaṃ
yathā velā mahodadhim

adhaḥ adhaḥ—lower and lower; tam—that; gireḥ—of the hill; śeṣaḥŚeṣa; kuṇḍalī-bhūtacoiled up; āsthitaḥ—stood; rurodha—stopped; taj-jalamthat water; dīrgham—great; yathā—as; velāthe shoreline; mahodadhim—the great ocean.

English translation of verse 3.2.22:

Coiling Himself around the hill, Śeṣa stopped the incoming flood as a shoreline stops the waters of an ocean.
