यक्षो वीक्ष्य तम् आयान्तं
कृतान्तम् इव दुर्जयम्
गोपीं त्यक्त्वा जीवितेच्छुः
प्राद्रवद् भय-विह्वलः
yakṣo vīkṣya tam āyāntaṃ
kṛtāntam iva durjayam
gopīṃ tyaktvā jīvitecchuḥ
prādravad bhaya-vihvalaḥ
yakṣaḥ—the yaksa; vīkṣya—seeing; tam—Him; āyāntam—coming; kṛtantam—death; iva—like; durjayam—invincible; gopīm—the gopī; tyaktvā—abandoning; jīvita—life; icchuḥ—desiring; prādravat—ran; bhaya-vihvalaḥ—overcome with fear.
English translation of verse 2.23.37:
Seeing Kṛṣṇa approaching like invicible death, the yakṣa demon became afraid, left the gopī behind, and ran for his life.
