दुद्रुवुः सर्वतो गोप्यो
महान् कोलहलो ऽभवत्
हा-हा-कारस् तदैवासीच्
छङ्खचूडे समागते
dudruvuḥ sarvato gopyo
mahān kolahalo 'bhavat
hā-hā-kāras tadaivāsīc
chaṅkhacūḍe samāgate
dudruvuḥ—ran; sarvataḥ—everywhere; gopyaḥ—teh gopīs; mahān—great; kolahalaḥ—tumult; abhavat—was; hā-hā-kāraḥ—alas! alas!; tadā—then; eva-indeed; asit—was; śaṅkhacūḍe—when Śaṅkhacūḍa; samāgate—came.
English translation of verse 2.23.34:
When Śaṅkhacūḍa came there was a great commotion. Crying, "Alas! Alas!" the gopīs ran in all directions.
