मुष्टामुष्टि तयोर् आसीद्
दिनानां सप्त-विंशतिः
द्वयोर् अक्षिण-बलयोर्
विस्मयं गतयोस् ततः
muṣṭāmuṣṭi tayor āsīd
dinānāṃ sapta-viṃśatiḥ
dvayor akṣiṇa-balayor
vismayaṃ gatayos tataḥ
muṣṭāmuṣṭi—hand to hand; tayoḥ—of them both; āsīt—was; dinānām—of days; sapta-viṃśatiḥ—twenty-seven; dvayoḥ—of them both; akṣiṇa—undiminished; balayoḥ—strength; vismayam—wonder; gatayoḥ—attained; tataḥ—of them.
English translation of verse 2.23.16:
They fought hand-to-hand for twenty-seven days. Neither one weakened. They were both amazed.
