श्री-गोपदेवतोवाच
प्रभाते आगमिष्यामि
मा शोकं कुरु राधिके
गोश् च भ्रातुर् गो-रसस्य
शपथो मे न चेद् इदम्
śrī-gopadevatovāca
prabhāte āgamiṣyāmi
mā śokaṃ kuru rādhike
goś ca bhrātur go-rasasya
śapatho me na ced idam
śrī-gopadevatā uvāca—Śrī Gopadevatā said; prabhāte—at sunrise; āgamiṣyāmi—I will come; mā—don't; śokam—lament; kuru—do; rādhike—O Rādhā; goḥ—of the cow; ca—and; bhrātuḥ—of the brother; go-rasasya—of milk; śapathaḥ—promise; me—of Me; na—not; cet—if; idam—that.
English translation of verse 2.17.40:
Śrī Gopadevatā said: At sunrise I will return. O Rādhā, don't lament. If I don't go I will break the promise I made to milk My brother's cow.
