The Garga-samhita Verse 2.12.6, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 2 of Chapter 12 (Subduing Kaliya and Drinking the Forest Fire) of Canto 2 (vrindavana-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

तदैव कालियः क्रुद्धः
फणी फण-शतावृतः
दशन् दन्तैश् च भुजया
चच्छाद नृप माधवम्

tadaiva kāliyaḥ kruddhaḥ
phaṇī phaṇa-śatāvṛtaḥ
daśan dantaiś ca bhujayā
cacchāda nṛpa mādhavam

tadāthen; eva—indeed; kāliyaḥKaliya; kruddhaḥangry; phaṇīsnake; phaṇa-śatāvṛtaḥ—with a hundred hoods; daśan—biting; dantaiḥ—with many fangs; ca—and; bhujayā—with coils; cacchāda—covered; nṛpaO king; mādhavam—Kṛṣṇa.

English translation of verse 2.12.6:

Then the snake Kāliya, who had a hundred heads, coiled himself around Kṛṣṇa and with many fangs bit Him.
