The Garga-samhita Verse 2.9.41, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. द्विधा रतिर् भवेद् वरा
श्रुताच् च दर्शनाच् च वा
अहो हरे तु मायया
बभूव नैव मे रतिः

dvidhā ratir bhaved varā
śrutāc ca darśanāc ca vā
aho hare tu māyayā
babhūva naiva me ratiḥ

dvidhātwo kinds; ratiḥlove; bhavet—is; varāexcellent; śrutāt—from hearing; ca—and; darśanāt—from seeing; ca—and; vai—indeed; ahaḥ—Oh; hareLord Hari; tu—indeed; māyayā—by the illusory potency; babhūva—became; na—not; eva—indeed; me—of me; ratiḥ—love.

English translation of verse 2.9.41:

Love is created in two ways: by hearing and by seeing. O Lord Hari, bewildered by Your illusory potency, I have not attained love for You.
