दुःखं सुखं च मनसा प्रभवं च सुप्ते
मिथ्या भवेत् पुनर् अहो भुवि जागरे ऽस्य
इत्थं विवेक-घटितस्य जनस्य सर्वं
स्वप्न-भ्रमादृत-जगत् सततं भवेद् धि
duḥkhaṃ sukhaṃ ca manasā prabhavaṃ ca supte
mithyā bhavet punar aho bhuvi jāgare 'sya
itthaṃ viveka-ghaṭitasya janasya sarvaṃ
svapna-bhramādṛta-jagat satataṃ bhaved dhi
duḥkham—suffering; sukham—pleasure; ca—and; manasā—by the mind; prabhavam—birth; ca—and; supte—in a dream; mithyā—false; bhavet—is; punaḥ—again; ahaḥ—Oh; bhuvi—on the earth; jagare—of a person awake; asya—of him; ittham—thus; viveka-ghatitasya—discriminating; janasya—of a person; sarvam—everything; svapna—of a dream; bhrama—illusion; ādṛta—honored; jagat—the world; satatam—always; bhavet—is; hi—certainly.
English translation of verse 2.9.9:
Pains and pleasures are created by the mind. A person awake knows what he saw in a dream is false. A wise man knows the entire material world is a dream.
