यथा युवानो वृद्धाश् चा
स्नेहाद् अश्रु-परिप्लुताः
स्वान् स्वान् पौत्रान् गृहीत्वा तु
ह्य् उपविष्टा मिलन्ति हि

yathā yuvāno vṛddhāś cā
snehād aśru-pariplutāḥ
svān svān pautrān gṛhītvā tu
hy upaviṣṭā milanti hi

yathā—as; yuvānaḥyoung; vṛddhāḥold; cā—and; snehāt—out of love; aśru-pariplutāḥ—drowning in tears; svān—own; svān—own; pautrān—grandsons; gṛhītvātaking; tu—indeed; hi—indeed; upaviṣṭā—sat; milanti—meet; hi—indeed.

English translation of verse 2.8.18:

Young and old were flooded with tears of love. The men embraced their sons and grandsons and sat down with them.
