सन्नन्दस्य वचः श्रुत्वा
गन्तुं नन्दः समुद्यतः
सर्वैर् गोप-गणैः सार्धं
मुदितो ऽभून् महा-मनः

sannandasya vacaḥ śrutvā
gantuṃ nandaḥ samudyataḥ
sarvair gopa-gaṇaiḥ sārdhaṃ
mudito 'bhūn mahā-manaḥ

sannandasya—of sannanda; vacaḥthe words; śrutvāhearing; gantum—to go; nandaḥNanda; samudyataḥ—about; sarvaiḥ—with all; gopa-gaṇaiḥ—the ghopas; sārdham—with; muditaḥ—joyful; abhūt—became; mahā-manaḥ—noble-hearted.

English translation of verse 2.4.1:

After hearing Sannanda's words, noble-hearted Nanda became happy. He decided to go there with all the cowherd people, . . .
