The Garga-samhita Verse 2.2.44, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 2 of Chapter 2 (Description of Giriraja Govardhana’s Birth) of Canto 2 (vrindavana-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

मुनिना सङ्गृहीतो ऽपि
गिरि-राजो गिरार्द्रया
न चाचालाङ्गुलिं किञ्चित्
तद् अपि द्रोण-नन्दनः

muninā saṅgṛhīto 'pi
giri-rājo girārdrayā
na cācālāṅguliṃ kiñcit
tad api droṇa-nandanaḥ

muninā—by the sage; saṅgṛhītaḥgrasped; api—although; giri-rājaḥthe king of mountains; girāwith words; ārdrayā—sweet; na—not; cācāla—moved; aṅgulim—a finger; kiñcitat all;; tat—that; api—also; droṇa-nandanaḥ—the son of Mount Droṇa.

English translation of verse 2.2.44:

Although the sage embarced him and spoke sweet words, Mount Govardhana, the son of Droṇa, did not move even for the space of a finger.
