तदा साक्षाद् धरिः पूर्णो
धृत्वा मत्स्यं वपुः परम्
नैमित्तिक-लयाम्भोधौ
युयुधे तेन यज्ञ-राट्
tadā sākṣād dhariḥ pūrṇo
dhṛtvā matsyaṃ vapuḥ param
naimittika-layāmbhodhau
yuyudhe tena yajña-rāṭ
tadā—then; sākṣāt—directly; dhariḥ—Lord Hari; pūrṇaḥ—perfect; dhṛtvā—taking; matsyam—of Lord Matsya; vapuḥ—the form; param—transcendental; naimittika—regular; laya—of cosmic devastation; ambhodhau—on the ocean; yuyudhe—fought; tena—with him; yajña-rāṭ—the king of yajnas.
English translation of verse 2.1.22:
Then, assuming the form of a fish, perfect Lord Hari, the master of all yajñas, fought with him in the ocean of cosmic devastation.
