श्री-बहुलाश्व उवाच
काव् इमौ पुरुषौ दिव्यौ
वद देवर्षि-सत्तम
केन दोषेण वृक्षत्वं
प्रापितौ यमलार्जुनौ
śrī-bahulāśva uvāca
kāv imau puruṣau divyau
vada devarṣi-sattama
kena doṣeṇa vṛkṣatvaṃ
prāpitau yamalārjunau
śrī-bahulāśvaḥ uvāca—Śrī Bahulāśva said; kau—who?; imau—they; puruṣau—persons; divyau—effulgent; vada—tell; devarṣi-sattama—O best of the demigod sages; kena—by what?; doṣeṇa—fault; vṛkṣatvam—the state of being trees; prāpitau—attained; yamala-arjunau—two arjuna trees.
English translation of verse 1.19.26:
Śrī Bahulāśva said: Who were those two effulgent men? O best of the demigod sages, please tell me. Because of what sin did they become two arjuna trees?
