The Garga-samhita Verse 1.19.25, English translation, including word-by-word: This text represents a Vaishnava scripture which narrates the life Krishna, It was composed in seventeen cantos by Garga Muni: an ancient sage and priest of the Yadu dynasty having. This is verse 1 of Chapter 19 (Breaking of the Two Arjuna Trees) of Canto 1 (goloka-khanda).

Sanskrit text, transliteration and word-by-word meaning:

सम्लालयन् स्वाङ्क-देशे
समाघ्राय शिशुं नृप
निर्भर्त्स्य भामिनीं नन्दो
विप्रेभ्यो गो-शतं ददौ

samlālayan svāṅka-deśe
samāghrāya śiśuṃ nṛpa
nirbhartsya bhāminīṃ nando
viprebhyo go-śataṃ dadau

samlālayan—caressing; svāṅka-deśe—on his lap; samāghrāya—smelling; śiśum—his boy; nṛpaO king; nirbhartsya—rebuking; bhāminīm—his wife; nandaḥNanda; viprebhyaḥ—to the brāhmaṇas; gaḥ—of cows; śatam—a hundred; dadau—gave.

English translation of verse 1.19.25:

Then Nanda placed his boy on his lap, embraced Him, smelled Him, rebuked his wife, and gave a hundred cows in charity to the brāhmaṇas.
