गत-व्यथे ह्य् अकरुणे
यशोदे हे व्रजेश्वरि
यष्ट्या निर्भर्त्सितो बालस्
त्वया बद्धो घट-क्षयात्
gata-vyathe hy akaruṇe
yaśode he vrajeśvari
yaṣṭyā nirbhartsito bālas
tvayā baddho ghaṭa-kṣayāt
gata—gone; vyathe—anxiety; hi—indeed; akaruṇe—unkind; yaśode—O Yaśodā; he—O; vrajeśvari—queen of Vraja; yaṣṭyā—with a stick; nirbhartsitaḥ—punished; bālaḥ—boy; tvayā—by you; baddhaḥ—bound; ghaṭa—a jug; kṣayāt—because of breaking.
English translation of verse 1.19.13:
O cold, merciless Yaśodā, O queen of Vraja, you beat this boy with a stick and tied Him up only because He broke a clay jug.
